A Year in Review
A Year in Review

Another year has started, and it’s hard to believe that 2019 is already behind us! It seems that the longer we run Shadow Creek, the faster the time goes, and we always find ourselves reminiscing at the start of every new year about the beautiful weddings and life events of the past year. We are oddly thankful for Instagram, as it has beautifully documented everything from the past year (and years past), and always serves as a fun way to remember all the details. This blog has also become a bit of a journal for us, and this year is no different; let me tell you, 2019 did not disappoint!
I’ll start with the personal moments that we celebrated in 2019, which included some major life milestones with the birth of Jenna and Will’s son, Brexton, and Leah and Rob’s wedding. Two amazing life events that we felt blessed to celebrate as gifts from God. We also celebrated a major milestone birthday for Shadow Creek as we turned five! We still can’t believe how fast the time has gone, as it feels like just yesterday we were only dreaming of this idea.
While the year felt joyous in many ways for our family, it was also the year we lost our dear friend, but not before we all watched her beautiful daughter Natalie wed in a gorgeous sunset ceremony at Shadow Creek. We were reminded that each couple who chooses us for their wedding day celebration comes with a real-life outside of wedding planning, and there can be joy, and there can be heartache, so it is always our hope that we are compassionate and where people feel cared for throughout their planning process as they navigate life at the same time.
Beyond the personal experiences of 2019, was the incredible year of wedding design that we witnessed through the amazing talents of so many vendors, and many who have become regulars here and friends! We saw the inside of the barn draped for the first time, and it was spectacular! It was absolutely breathtaking to see this come together thanks to so many talented people. We continued to see gorgeous ceremony spaces designed, with circle floral arches remaining popular, and we even saw a gorgeous winter wedding photograph skyrocket in likes because it was perfectly captured and romantic.
2019 was truly an incredible year of ups and downs, but we always remain grateful to God for all he has given us through this venue that allows us to connect with so many. As always, thank you for supporting us, for picking us for your wedding day, for designing and bringing event visions to life, and for generally being here as friends. We wish you a prosperous and beautiful 2020!
Love,
Lori Carlyle
