Shadow Creek Turns 6
Weddings and a Pandemic
When we entered 2020 we don’t think anyone could have predicted the freight train that was heading our way, full steam ahead, in the form of a global pandemic. Five years into running our venue, we thought we had seen it all, but this has been an experience unlike any other. As we mentioned in prior posts, our hearts break for the many couples faced with changing all of the plans they had made for their once in a lifetime day, and for our many friends and vendors who were, and continue to be, deeply impacted by this situation. Weddings and event planning already come with a fair amount of stress, but this certainly has taken the challenges to a whole new level, and we truly applaud all of the couples and vendors around the world who are navigating this season with grace.
Shadow Creek was very quiet in the spring; the cows didn’t know anything was different, but we certainly felt it and often found ourselves paging through galleries from the past while reminding ourselves that weddings would return again in the future. As summer arrived, and things began to open up a bit, we were thrilled to start hosting weddings again in July and to see them continuing now into the fall season. One thing we know for sure is that love can overcome a lot, even a global pandemic, as we have witnessed with our couples over the past few months.
Even with challenges come some things worth celebrating and September marked our 6th year in business! While this will certainly be a year we won’t forget, it’s been a great reminder of all the blessings and joy that this property has brought to our lives since opening our doors in 2014. If 2020 has taught us nothing else, it has certainly taught us to take nothing for granted and to be grateful for every blessing big and small.
As with each year prior, we continue to focus on enhancing Shadow Creek and making it a place that families and friends continue to gather in celebration for generations to come. This past weekend, in celebration of 6 successful years, we added string lights to our front porch. These lights are romantic and beautiful, but also remind us in this season that even in the darkest moments, hope remains. We can’t wait for more weddings to return, and for all the joy and celebrations that will take place under these lights. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to support us. We couldn’t do this without each one of you.
